I am a woman on a mission, whoa!

Three years.
Yes, I’ve been with Mr B  for three years and I’ve got no ring yet, not even a tiny little silver ring!
I’m not that fond of rings to be honest, but I wouldn’t mind to receive one from Mr B.
I think it would be just fair, wouldn’t it?!

Unfortunately Mr B is one of those unconventional types who don’t believe in the importance of rings. So, if my strategy of showing a complete indifference upon this subject has failed, I have came up with a plan B.

Yesterday I helped Mr B packing for his new business travel – like an authentic devoted girlfriend - but I put some extra stuff in the luggage by mistake…what a naughty girl!!!

A few pics which I printed off the computer and hided among his well ironed shirts and CK knickers.
Guess what’s the subject?

What do you think?
I would like to see his face when he opens his luggage looking for a pair of socks and he will find these little presents!

I hope he likes them because I spent  a quite long time choosing the right pics and rings…at least I want to give him the right inspiration and these pics taken in the Italian countryside are gorgeous!
I’d love Mr B sliping a ring on a Prosecco cork or hanging it on a vineyard plant.

A gothic glam wedding in a haunted villa…

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Happy Monday everyone!

Before going to work I thought posting this nice story about gothic wedding venues…I hope you like it!

A few week-ends ago my husband and I spent a whole Sunday afternoon going around the city with our camera looking for some nice shots. We wanted something old and kind of gothic because we have always been fascinated by legends, ghosts and old palazzi. We had in mind an old Venetian Villa which was not too far from us and which we heard had been open to the public after many years.

That’s the villa, an unknown place an hour far from Venice, which has been recently re-open for weddings and events. You can rent it as it is and then arrange all the decorations as you like, also keeping the gothic and vintage style of the structure.

Italian gothic villa
This Venetian Villa was built towards the end of the 17th Century and it stands in the middle of a gorgeous park; the magnificent gate walks the visitor through the park to the villa entrance along alleys besides which some statues stand like mysterious ruins of their past beauty. On the right side of the park the barchessa stands alone; it’s completely opened on the right side and its columns give rhythm to this wonderful building: the perfect covered place for your caterer to serve appetizers or arrange the whole reception…

I wanted to add an extra touch of gothic and vintage style imagining how we could decorate the inside of this villa. A few English ceramic tea cups which I found in an antique shop in Lincoln and an old golden finish mirror which comes from the same place. I find them really retro’ and decaying!

Vintage decorations for a gothic wedding

Last but not least a gothic wedding dress! I took inspiration from a few pictures we took two years ago when we went to the Whitby Gothic Festival. I stopped this girl and asked her if I could take a few pics of her…her look was sooo cool! I love her hat with those feathers and its elegant birdcage veil! And what about the lacey umbrella?

Click on the following link if you’d like to know where to find gothic wedding gowns, I love Fairy Goth Mother’s vintage style! A part from their bridal gowns they’ve got an awful lot of other vintage cloths! JZUJJTBWUC22

Strawberry fields forever

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Let me take you down today…into a strawberry world…I don’t know if  it is because I’ve just entered into the fifth month of my pregnancy, but today I feel like talking about yummy food…strawberries…I almost fainted down when discovering Tania’s lovely food pictures and strawberry home made cakes and desserts… Her blog Dulcis in Furno is worth a visit and most of the receipts below are also translated in English! Well done Tania! Our readers will enjoy them!

And off we go with Ferratelle biscuits with whipped cream and strawberries… Yum Yum…

Ferratelle Biscuit Fragola

Tania explains Ferratelle biscuits are a traditional specialty from L’Aquila, not that far away from Roma. I like the nice colour mix of strawberries red and green mint leaves.

A fresh and nice idea during a summer wedding for your guests is the bicchiere goloso suggested by Tania… Strawberries, whipped cream, biscuits and granita ice cream or fragolino wine are the fresh ingredients of this receipe.

Last but not least, Tania’s strawberries triangles are simply mouth watering…Only for your eyes…

Fireworks and romantic lanterns in Venice

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Hello girls,
If you have never been to the Redentore, which is one of the most important religious events in Venice, at least you can enjoy looking at a few pictures we selected for our blog. You might consider getting married in Venice just on this occasion!

The event takes place every year on the third week end of July and the most gorgeous attraction is the firework display. I was in Venice for the Redentore a few years ago and I have to admit it is unbelievable and just stunning!
I find the atmosphere really romantic…what do you think?

A wedding in the Venetian lagoon

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Hello all!
Our holiday is over :-( but I would like to tell you something about what we did while I was in Venice.

Every time I go to Venice a surprise is waiting for me round the corner.
A tiny little calle I never noticed before, an unknown path to reach San Marco I had never done and hundreds of new views where you could peacefully stare at this romantic city from.

Last week Sylvie and I took a day off (from her job and from my holiday) and we had a new voyage of discovery through the Venice’s outskirts.
We arrived at the train station and took a vaporetto (the Venetian bus boat!) and we let ourselves driven around the lagoon…

Venitian lagoon
We stopped in Murano, had a refreshing granita (crumbled ice with lemon and mint syrup) and then catched another vaporetto which drove us to the most unknown isles of the Venetian arcipelago.

Then we reached our destination: a gorgeous newly restored villa surrounded by an ancient vineyard! Franco, one of the villa’s chefs, welcomed us and introduced us the building which opened last spring and had already hosted five weddings.

The internal court and patio where you can have breakfast…

The restaurant with another spacious patio where you can arrange your reception during the summer time and which looks at the vineyard (a perfect place for a few pictures!) and at a vegetable garden where the chefs grow many products such as artichokes, garlic, beans…all for their customers…

And then we had a short tour through the villa.
I was impressed by the immense reception room – the old vine production main building – which has been completely refurbished with a modern light system and brand new equipment for playing music.

And the glass and aluminium wine cellar is a real jewel – here you can taste all the best vines from Venice and Veneto area, a real treat for your guests!

All bedrooms (six in total) have been named after some Venetian isles. Their design is a perfect mix of modern and ancient – I love the colourful carpets and the antique white painted cupboards (once belonged to a nearby monastery).

The connections are not too bad: one hour from Venice train station (16 euro for a daily vaporetto ticket though) or less than one hour by a taxi boat from Venice airport (which could be worth if there are a few people traveling together and sharing the cost).

Holiday celebrate

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

Hello y’all!
I’m going back to Italy tomorrow. I’m buzzin!
So we will stop posting for probably a week or so.
Sylvie and I are planning to go and visit as many places and people as possible – a trip to Venice, some photo shots and a few other surprices on then Italian wedding topic which we hope to post asap!

We also hope we will have time to relax, meet some friends ang go to the beach! So instead of wedding pics I thought to leave you with a choice of vintage swimwear…just to make you think of us while we will be laying under the Italian sun with a nice fresh cocktail (by the way last week end I learnt how to make a pina colata, gorgeous!)
