White with a touch of gold! Too traditional?
I think a white and gold palette has got a retro kind of effect…and I think Leda had the same idea when she arranged this lovely set for us! Yes, just for our blog! I feel so honoured!

I met Leda by chance, while going around hundreds of blogs…and I immediately felt in love with hers - Gustosamente is an adorable place with an awful lot of quick and fresh recipies. Not only is she a great cooker, but she also a great photographer…I love the pics she adds to all her recipies!
So after writing a couple of comments on her blog we started talking about…about weddings of course…and she was so kind to offer her help for shooting creative table decorations photos.
This is the first one, but many other will follow very soon! Keep tuned with us!
Everything you see comes from her house – some are new objects, other ones come from Italian flea markets…I find everything adorable! So simply enjoy!

A sunny day in Burano for an exclusive bride

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

When you are here with me
This room has no walls
But trees…infinite trees.
When you are here near me
This purple ceiling
No longer exists.
I can see the sky above us
That are remaining here
Abandoned,
As if there is nothing else, nothing else in the world…

This is a very romantic poem and song by the Italian singer Gino Paoli which came to my mind when I saw these pics.

This lovely bride comes from Seoul (South Korea) and got married a few weeks ago in Venice. The photo shooting was quite original – infact the couple popped over to the Burano island, well known for its coloured houses.

We had a chance to talk to her photographer Adrian Wood who explained us why foreign couples love Burano.
This is the ideal place where you can have photo shots as romantic as the ones you would have in Venice, but with a more natural effect - he said
You see the hanging clothes? That’s real life…but I have to confess they are sooo romantic in this pics (it’s not the same when you have them on your iron table)!

Plus reaching Burano is not so difficult – you can go by public water taxis like vaporetti which will take less than 1 hour from the train station, or you can hire your own one which will be even quicker, but obviously more expencive.

Bohemia crystal glass passion on your table!

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

Some time ago, I told you about Alter Ego Company and beautiful coloured glasses produced in Italy which would be a must-have in your wedding list!

Today I feel like writing about Bohemia crystal glass – nothing to do with Italy really you would say. But I would be happy to show how the combination of classic, elegant and sophisticated Bohemia crystal glasses can stand close to modern style coloured glasses on your table, so to impress massively your guests…

Our friends Jozef and Evelin from Slovakia got it right really, and brought us as a wedding gift some fantastic glasses from Rubin Company. (more…)

I’ve got an invitation to an Italian wedding!!!

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

Every time the same drama is on stage: after being first excited when receiving an invitation for a wedding, in a few seconds my whole self falls into panic and despair: OMG, what am I going to put on that day…expecially if it’s an Italian wedding?!
After all, a wedding party is not at all like going out eating for the first time at your future parents-in-law’s or getting perfectly dressed for an all-night-long crazy Saturday with friends. A wedding is completely another thing!

Some weeks ago I went to Malaga for a long weekend and in a small nice village called Nerja I saw a Spanish wedding. Well, that was really inspiring so I thought to write something to compare the differences between a Spanish and an Italian wedding. (more…)

Handmade with heartfelt!

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

Good morning ladies,

Today I’ve got something really sweet for you.
I’ve been working on this post for a few weeks and I hope you like the topic: ethical favours!

Everything started when I got an e-mail from my friend Angela – you have to know I asked all my Italian married friends to write something on their wedding for this blog (poor them!) – and she sent me this lovely letter about their ethical favours:

Pierluigi and I made the decision not to spend money into common favours, but to donate the equivalent amount of money to a charity mission; this donation was having a special meaning as a relative of us spent his entire life as a missionary, so this was also a creative and inspirational way to honor him during our day. Then we bought some handmade bags from the Italian Fare Trade, keeping always in mind the concept of money spent on an ethical and useful way; inside the bag, our guests found a small message explaining the reason of our choice and the destination of our donation.

This is not all. A few days ago I came across Juliet’s blog Heartfelt Project - Together with her friend Martha they’ve started a business in Makapanstad (South Africa), producing hand-sewn heartfelts, which are simply adorable!!!

Sounds from the Italian 60s…

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

Hi loves!
Summer is here and music is all around…Music on the beach, live music in bars during these fresh summer nights… Fantastic 60′s come to my mind and being a “weddinghaolic” I was already thinking how nice it would be to organize a wedding around a swimming pool in a 60′s style – black suit tied-up groom, some Vespas around and some good vintage Italian 60′s music in the background!

I wandered on Youtube looking for inspiring songs and I found two of them…and I found as well a perfect nice vintage pic matching the theme of the day of…obviously of shoes!

I love… “Ho in mente te”, an Italian translation of the old “Diana” (1957) by Paul Anka first…

Followed back to year 1958, by the evergreen and great San Remo success “Nel blu dipinto di blu – Volare” by Domenico Modugno…

Hope you can relax today with these nice songs… keep tuned as there’s much more to come about Italian 60s music! You have no idea how many secrets and unknown nice songs we still have in our sleeves for you!

By the way…what do you think about the shoes?

Love and romance on a public bus…

Monday, August 9th, 2010

I often think about when I and Gianluca were younger and soooo in love… I still remember a funny situation when I was in Milan studying Italian and Gianluca came to visit me…

It must have been some ten years ago or so, on a winter Sunday afternoon. Gianluca and I were on a bus going somewhere – not quite sure where, maybe going to an art expo or to a bar in the citycentre… An old lady who was standing on the bus came close to us and simply told us: “What a lovely couple you are!”

This was such a sudden sentence than left us with a big astonished smile. We could barely say grazie!

That situation immediately came back to my mind when looking at Mauro’s lovely wedding pictures… Manuela and Carlo went for a city wedding and found inspiration with their photographer by playing with the city elements and actors they were surrounded by, including public buses…

I find it creative and unusual! I really like the fact that the bus is empty because this creates an intimate situation between the bride and the groom.

Danilo’s picture is worth a look too! Here, the bride and the groom are surrounded by their guests, certainly driving to the wedding venue. The couple seems completely isolated from the rest of the people!

The photographer got a great capacity of capturing again an intimate moment into the chaos of the family, which I would imagine were singing and laughing!

Engagement in a playground – Melaina and Patrick

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

They are not very popular in Italy, but I think engagement photo shots are a really lovely idea!
That’s way I asked Melaina if I could post some pictures of her engagement with Patrick and I was so happy when she said “yes”!

These pictures were taken in Victoria (Canada) and I think they are great! I love the idea of the playground for a photo shot and I also like the different kind of colour tones the photographer played with.

A Chanel 50′s style dress by our Sartorialist…

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

Happy and sunny monday all! I’m waking up today with Mika’s great song Grace Kelly which reminds me that I still have some secrets I haven’t told you about yet regarding my last month trip to Italy…

One of the most interesting moments was to meet Giusy, an Italian dressmaker specialized in handmade wedding dresses in Pordenone. We were so lucky as when we visited her she was working on a very special wedding dress! Here we are with a few pics taken by Sylvie.
