Chic wedding in Venice – Part 2

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

Hello girls!
How are you after last rainy bank holiday week end?
As for me I spent my time with MrB paking and moving to our new house in Lincoln, tiring but wonderful! PLus I had a bit of time to write this post on the second part of that chic wedding in Venice we featured at the begining of last week, do you remember?

This lovely couple from France got married a while a go with a Jewish cerimony in La Giudecca, a Venice. I was letterally humble in from of this elegant event. Look at the decorations: yellow and pink roses (I like this match, it’s not so popular, probably because the yellow colour in flowers has never been associated to a “wedding colour”). I quite like the idea of wrapping then in a little rounded box…

What about the cake completely covered with the same roses! Very chic!

Ladybird, Ladybird…have a nice cake with me!

Monday, May 30th, 2011

Happy sunny monday everyone!

While baking something nice for my little Troussepinette Maya who turned 6 months yesterday, I found in my stuff a pretty funny picture or message holder ladybird shape that would be an excellent idea as a creative table place card holder for your wedding!

This is one of Lara Marchetti’s creations made of felt and boiled wool material.

Lara works in Rimini, and creates place card holders as well as table seating plan and tens of other favors creative items!

They do exist in different shape and set a funny tone to your wedding dinner. And then, being initially a picture holder, your guests will love finding a favor waiting for them!

Lovely, isn’t it?

Somewhere…in South Italy…

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

Hi there!

Ever heard about Bernalda?! Honestly I never…And I guess I would never have come across this small town in South Italy if Sofia Coppola, always elegant in her Vuitton black dresses and accessories, would not have made the decision to tie the knot with her rocker boyfriend, Thomas Mars, in August this year.

Well, an easy decision actually! Sofia and Tom will celebrate their union at Palazzo Margherita, Francis Ford Coppola’s 19th century villa in Bernalda! The small town is in great excitement for the coming forward event!!! Guess how many VIPs will travel over there for the occasion!

The Coppola family has roots in this region of Italy, and Bernalda is the city where Sofia grand-father’s grew before he moved to America…

Keep tuned, more to come on this soooo VIP event in such a soooo small village like Bernalda…

Chic wedding in Venice – Part 1

Sunday, May 22nd, 2011

Happy Monday girls, how are you?
Today I’ve got one of those wedding which leaves you without words. Literally!
I think that getting married in Venice is already a romantic idea, but when it is organized in a stunning location and with perfect attention to details I get really excited…you know I’m a wedding geek!
I don’t know much about this wedding, but as soon as I get more details I will post them: I love the bride’s corset with laces and the elegant pink and white roses decorations. Plus the atmosphere actors with Venetian masks and costumes are great!
Keep tuned, the photos of the reception and of the dancing night are coming soon…

Once upon a time the new Italian wedding dress trends…

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

I got letterally stucked in front of this wonderful Italian wedding dress photos featured in Elle Italia. Not only are these bridal gowns stunning, but also I love the idea of a photo shoot taken in a typical old Italian village…just to give you an idea of how it could be getting married in Italy!
Tulle, laces and corsets are the true protagonists of the 2011 Italian wedding dress trend…

I love the wedding dress on the left handside – drapped corset and plumetis tulle skirt by Domo Adami – and what about her silk underwear corset by Penrose (what a nice discovery, I didn’t know this Italian company!)…

Again on the left handside I really like the original look of this bride: heart shaped corset made of lace with chandelier chrystals embroidery and a wide tulle skirt by Amelia Casablanca, vintage style maxi flower in her hair, drop-earings by Demaldè.

Again another lovely bride wearing a  dress made of pearls and flowers embroidery and lace and tulle skirt by Elizabeth B and rhinestone hearing by Demaldè. The guys are wearing suits by D&G (very expencive I guess!).

So, which one do you like most? I hope it will be useful either you are going to buy a wedding dress from a shop or if you are having a bespoke one.

My millionaire Indian wedding in Venice

Sunday, May 15th, 2011

I wish I had some 10 million euro to spend for my own wedding! This is exactly what Vinita’s father spent so she could get married in Venice over the last days… Indeed, a 72 hours amazing wedding that is now over, but that has seen the city in a great excitement!

A perfect bollywood style wedding with the only difference that it was held in Venice: 800 guests, elephants, horses taken to Venice for the occasion, Shakira and Gotan Project live performances, fireworks over the city, magic Venetian locations chosen for a wedding said to be by far more beautiful than Kate and William’s…

La Misericordia, San Clemente, l’Arsenale…We have to admit that thanks to Vanita’s father, the wedding guests could enjoy some Venice very special places that are not used to be weddings locations…

Think, the city could not even refuse to put in place for the occasion greater security measures as well as removing for the event the city noise limitation obligation that is in place in some areas of the city, or to permit bride and groom the day after the wedding to have the priority onto the whole Venice water traffic that is usually pretty messy… Well done Mr Mayor, and well done Mr Agarwal!

And you, what would you do if you had a few millions euros wedding budget?

How To Choose Your Wedding Venue

Saturday, May 14th, 2011

I was in Italy two weeks ago, going around the Venetian hills with MrB and some lovely friends…amazing landscape, company and wine!
While I was taking these photos I thought of writing something about how to choose the right venue for your wedding in Italy. Actually, these are just a few tips we have given to our brides…

Italian Hills for a Wedding

Italian Hills for a Wedding
The first thing you need to know is that not all venues are authorised to held civil cerimonies.
So it’s better to check with the town hall of the city you’d like to get married in which are the available venues. In that way, you can have the civil cerimony and the reception in the same place.

However, to avoid this limitation in choice (the number of authorised locations is not that high), a lot of couples choose to have their civil cerimony in the town hall, a day or so before the wedding, and then have a symbolic cerimony celebrated in a venue they really like, so that it doesn’t matter if it’s not an authorised location.

I thought to make it clear, because it might be different from other countries and we found out many couples were surprised to hear that.
This is it for this week. I’m going to help MrB making home made tagliatelle…I hope I will have time to take some nice photos before eating them!
Have a wonderful week end

A Classic Wedding at the Italian Seaside

Monday, May 9th, 2011

Hello ladies!

Summer is almost arrived here in Italy and people start heading to the seaside for an early sun bathing. So I thought to post something about a wedding at the seaside of this lovely Irish couple.
This is a very classic and elegant wedding in Ravello – the venue is Villa Cimbrone, a fairytale location for a wedding which has hosted many illustrious names from science and the arts, including Ava Gardner, Greta Garbo, D.H Lawrence, Eliot and many more. A special thanks to Carlo Carletti for these wonderful photos!

A Strawberry Flavour Mother’s Day

Sunday, May 8th, 2011

Hi there!

After beeing a bride, now I’m a mother too! And since today it’s Mother day in Italy I thought to cook something for my family…Well, I should be the one today receiving some gifts from my lovely daughter and husband, but Maya is too small, and Mr G is not the kind of man that has ever impressed me with gifts on the expected-gifts-supposed-to-be-days!

So I cooked a new Tiramisu’ version made with strawberries which could consider as an alternative to traditional sponge wedding cakes.

Strawberry Italian Wedding Cake

A yummy yummy fresh recipe easy and quick to do. Have a chat with your caterer!

When women were queens…

Buongiorno a tutte!

I have to admit: I did not have time to stare in front of my TV screen last week to watch the Royal Wedding ;-) but took a look at some shots afterwards on Internet! Although everybody talks about Pippa being the most beautiful in the kingdom, I found that Kate’s Grace Kelly style dress was soooo romantic, elegant and stylish! This was a perfect old style dress she wore during the ceremony with grande classe. Loved it!

We often talk about new wedding trends and ideas, but it’s good to remember that old times were perfect times! And sometimes, instead of looking for real stunning alternative, we may think about the past trends!

I felt then I wanted to share with you a couple of pix of my grand-parents days! A step back to old times in memory of our grand-parents who were so elegant, serious and engaged on their day I am happy to show today with a French vintage twist!

A special thanks to my mother who allowed me to use her grand-mother’s old soup tureen! She was so scared that I broke it down! Grazie mamma!
