Top 20 songs for a catholic wedding ceremony in Italy

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

Good morning everyone,

Here we are today with a new theme we never wrote about in the last months of our blog life: the choice of the music for your day

We would like to give you a few tips regarding Bon Ton and the music you should choose for a catholic wedding ceremony in Italy, as not necessarily everyone would know the main traditional religious songs for weddings ceremonies…

First thing to remember is that possibilities are endless really! Choirs, instrumental hymns or solo voice: keep in mind that music you would choose would reflect your couple personality and credo…

In a church, you may consider that there are 4 main moments, against which music according to the Italian tradition should be carefully chosen. Here we are with the top traditional classic Catholic wedding ceremonies hymns:

Waiting for the bride and the groom (this is the moment guests are entering the church)
1) Johann Sebastian Bach: Cantata BWV 147 Corale n. 10
2) Ludwig Van Beethoven: Sonata Chiaro di Luna
3) Georg Friedrich Händel: Largo
4) Johann Sebastian Bach: Aria sulla IV Corda BWV 1068
5) Franz Joesph Haydn: Concerto per violino in La Maggiore

Bride’s entrance
6) Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Marcia Nuziale
7) Johann Pachelbel: Canone in Re Maggiore
8 ) Antonio Vivaldi: La Primavera
9) Richard Wagner: Coro Nuziale
10) Georg Friederich Händel: Canticorum

Exchange of vows
11) Claude Debussy: Chiaro di Luna
12) Franz Liszt: Sogno d’Amore
13) Franz Schubert: Ave Maria
14) César Franck: Panis Angelicus
15) Charles Gounod: Ave Maria

Bride and Groom church exit
16) Ludwig Van Beethoven: Inno alla Gioia
17) Johann Sebastian Bach: Concerto Brandeburghese n. 4
18) Georg Friedrich Händel: The Arrival of The Queen of Sheba
19) Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy: Marcia Nuziale
20) Georg Friedrich Händel: Coro Hallelujah

And you, which music did you choose for your your church wedding ceremony?

A summer wedding in Tuscany

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

Hello girls!
In two weeks’ time I will be in Venice where I will spend some time with my family and friends…can’t wait! To get into the mood of the Italian flavours MrB is cooking two gorgeous breams in the oven…I can start smelling them!

In the meantime I’ve found these pictures by Carlo Carletti about a lovely wedding in Tuscany – the first one which took place in 2011. A wonderful summer wedding in Asciano, which took place at Podere Finerri (we already mentioned it in another real wedding in Tuscany). Beautiful people, gorgeous location and elegant and simple decorations. Love it!

Silvia + Emanuele: wedding in the mountains Part II

Thursday, August 4th, 2011

Hi girls!
Do you remember Silvia and Emanuele’s wedding in the Italian mountains? Well, this is the second part of it…their photos were so beautiful that I thought to post them in two separate posts…
After the preparation come the ceremony and the reception…a few details from Silvia here below…
Have a nice week end!

This is the beginning…Silvia holds her dad’s arm…have you noticed this amazing sunny brolly (Forst branded!) recycled for the occasion due to the unaspected rain? Love it!

We decided to go for DIY decorations and favours.

Our favors (DVD ‘The Notebook’) were nicely wrapped in white bread paper bags, decorated with a blue ribbon. They were given to our guests together with confetti - typical Italian candies (almonds covered with sugar) – and zuccherini (special hand made cookies, traditionally from Bologna and resembling the wedding bands in their ringlike shape).

We chose the dark blue colour because it’s the colour of gentian flowers which grow in the mountains in June, the month we got married. I wanted to include them in my bouquet too as well as for our table decorations.
The venue’s owners organised all the rest – table cloth colour, candles, menu, position of the decorations…

My mum made the wedding cushion for the rings, using a raw Tyrolean white fabric. Its shape and the position of the ribbon recalled the way we made our save the dates and wedding invitations (a white envelope with a dark blue ribbon).
We also had a wedding guest book where everyone could leave a message – the front cover was made of white hemp cloth framing a copy of our wedding invitation.
