Giada + Davide: wedding in Friuli

Monday, March 12th, 2012

Happy monday girls,

Hope you’ve had a lovely sunny week-end like we’ve just had here in Venice: spring is back over Venice, and am happy to share with you today part II pictures of Giada and Davide’s vintage wedding in Friuli!

After they told us about how they first met, here we are today with Giada’s great tips about the organization of their big day!

Giada and Davide chose a Friuli winery called Tenuta di Castelvecchio in Sagrado. They visited quite a number of locations before they fell in love with the winery! They were amazed by the old and elegant charm that such a venue can offer; the few old century oaks standing at the venue main entrance as well the stunning view over the hills and vineyards all around…They felt that was the perfect place to arrange their vintage style wedding!

And what about their retro chic vintage decoration? Such a lovely idea! Giada explained they both love the vintage style! A lot of the embroidery they used for their vintage setting belonged to Davide’s grand mother, who once upon a time, was sewing dresses for ceramic dolls.
I love the idea of using material and objects that belonged to the family! This creates continuity, and is a good way to remember your loved ones too! And you? What would you like to use for your wedding which belonged to your family?

Jenny + Graziano: A summer wedding in Veneto

Sunday, December 11th, 2011

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today I want to show you Jenny and Graziano’s wedding in our beautiful Veneto! Yes, you do not need go to Tuscany to find a stunning countryside – if you want to be a bit different and taste a real Italian style wedding you can choose for an unusual destination such as Feltre, near Belluno and the Alps. You will find the perfect mix of countryside, mountains and plenty of art and culture!

Jenny and Graziano live in Rome, but she is from Feltre and that’s the first reason they choose to have their wedding in there. The second reason is because Veneto is a region rich in Renaissance and Palladian villas that they love.

So, what do you think?

I simply love her dress – the colours are amazing! Plus the flowers – white hydrangea everywhere and babybreath for the bouquet – are simple and so elegant!

The colours of the dress – nude with black and white embroidered little flowers and a black ribbon – have become the wedding theme colours: tables and menus were indeed decorated with white flowers and little black ribbons.

Love, Bride and Rock ‘n’ Roll

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

Hi girls!

Ever seen a bride playing drums on her day?!
Anything can happen on your day! Even when friends ask you to sit and play drums, like in the old, really old teens times!
And this is exactly what happened to Giulia when she married Massimo this summer in Spilimbergo, a lovely medieval city, the Italian capital of mosaics, not far from Venice, in our Friuli region!

Look at Giulia! How rock is she? She really desserved a hug when performance was over! A great thanks to Monika who captured the rock ‘n’ roll atmosphere of the day!

Gianluca and I were already gone when the bouquet time arrived! Nevermind, I’m already married! But how funny was the moment! Only men wishing to catch the bouquet! Not sure Massimo was really convinced about it! He stares at Giulia in a pretty suspicious way!

A summer wedding in Tuscany

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

Hello girls!
In two weeks’ time I will be in Venice where I will spend some time with my family and friends…can’t wait! To get into the mood of the Italian flavours MrB is cooking two gorgeous breams in the oven…I can start smelling them!

In the meantime I’ve found these pictures by Carlo Carletti about a lovely wedding in Tuscany – the first one which took place in 2011. A wonderful summer wedding in Asciano, which took place at Podere Finerri (we already mentioned it in another real wedding in Tuscany). Beautiful people, gorgeous location and elegant and simple decorations. Love it!

How To Choose Your Wedding Venue

Saturday, May 14th, 2011

I was in Italy two weeks ago, going around the Venetian hills with MrB and some lovely friends…amazing landscape, company and wine!
While I was taking these photos I thought of writing something about how to choose the right venue for your wedding in Italy. Actually, these are just a few tips we have given to our brides…

Italian Hills for a Wedding

Italian Hills for a Wedding
The first thing you need to know is that not all venues are authorised to held civil cerimonies.
So it’s better to check with the town hall of the city you’d like to get married in which are the available venues. In that way, you can have the civil cerimony and the reception in the same place.

However, to avoid this limitation in choice (the number of authorised locations is not that high), a lot of couples choose to have their civil cerimony in the town hall, a day or so before the wedding, and then have a symbolic cerimony celebrated in a venue they really like, so that it doesn’t matter if it’s not an authorised location.

I thought to make it clear, because it might be different from other countries and we found out many couples were surprised to hear that.
This is it for this week. I’m going to help MrB making home made tagliatelle…I hope I will have time to take some nice photos before eating them!
Have a wonderful week end

Grace+Tony: Love on a tree in Tuscany

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

Hi girls,

I’ve just come back from a wonderful and busy week end in Tuscany where I met Alex and Tom, our lovely couple who will get married in the Tuscan countryside next September. We spent a lot of time trying menus and local wines, choosing flowers and thinking of table disposition…

I haven’t had time to dowload the photos Gianluca took while we were there, so in the meanwhile I thought of posting the pictures of this lovely wedding Catherine sent me a while ago and which took place in Tuscany, more precise in Asciano near Siena.

This is the love story of Grace and Tony, from Ireland - says their photographer Catherine - a fantastic bunch of very creative people that love enjoying life to its limits with dressing up parties & live music on end. When I asked the groom what type of pictures he would like to have for his wedding pictures, he told me he would love to have some couple picture on a tree. When they first met at a friend’s party he took her on his back and climbed a tree where they spent most of the night. How romantic is that?

Podere Finneri is an old 1700′s farmhouse surrounded by the hills, offering thus a wonderful landscape for all the guests who participate to the wedding, and is just an amazing gorgeous relaxing place!!!
This small simple wedding location is the right place for the couple and the guests who would stay there not only for the wedding but also for a longer vacation enjoying the home made olive oil, the landscape and…the swimming pool ;-) !

I thank Catherine for sharing with us the beautiful pictures she’s had the opportunity to make over the last years in Podere Finerri by following foreign couples who chose this place to celebrate their wedding!

Discover Marche region for a tipical Italian wedding

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

Good afternoon ladies!

This morning I had the insane idea to go to work wearing sandals (without tights of course!)…but it has been sooo chilly in this part of the UK today!
Nevermind, that reminded me of some beautiful sunny pictures Cinzia sent us a while ago about a wonderful Italian countryside wedding which took place last summer.
More precisely this is Claudia and Riccardo’s love story, which took place in Marche region – not a really popular wedding destination for foreigners…not sure why since you can find wonderful landscapes and even more chances to plan a real Italian style wedding.

What about the wedding cake? On Claudia’s mind it had to be huge, white and … delicious!
Claudia and Riccardo drove around their region looking for the best confectioner. Finally, they found. His name is Gianni and he is from Osimo. He mixed chocolate, vanille, pieces of brownies and honey. Poetry for your mouth!

Bride’s dad played a key role on Claudia and Riccardo’s wedding. He was a singer at 20. Fourty years later I Diamanti, one of the best known 1960′s Italian band, are back!
Vittorio, the bride’s dad sang in 1960 with Mina, the most famous Italian singer. And now, so many years later on his face, he has been the protagonist of this romantic story that held on a summer day last year.

“My husband, Riccardo and I met at my mum’s restaurant. We were 14 years old and just friends.
Three years ago my cell rang at night. Riccardo was speaking: “Happy Birthday to you!”, he told me. Last time I spoke to him was five or six years earlier.
He made me feel really special! And, of course I could not take my eyes off him since then.
Our wedding story started on a Wednesday evening. He came to me with the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. “Do you want to marry me?”

Lia+Rob: Wedding in a Tuscan Vineyard

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010

Hello ladies,

I’ve seen so many wedding photos since I’ve started this blog and sometimes it happens to me that I come across some images which do not look real. They are more like dreams printed out in a piece of paper…well, the wedding I’d like to show you today is one of those dreams which come true…

Lia and Rob are from New York and last summer they decided to get married in Italy. For their cerimony and reception they chose Vignamaggio Villa, an old vineyard in Tuscan countryside…

In this wedding I absolutely love the light pink walls of the Italian farm, the bride’s dress and the lovely cork placehoders which perfectly represents the Italian style of the wedding! And now I’ll stop talking and let you enjoy with these photos by Simply Bloom

Janice+Chris: romance and home-made pasta!

Monday, November 1st, 2010

Happy Monday girls!

I hope you had a great Halloween week-end, mine was excellent since I spent an entire day shopping in York!
To start the week with energy I thought to write about another great destination wedding in Tuscany (I’ve already written about destination wedding in Tuscany…do you remember Emily & Nick’s story?).

Well, this is the story of Janice and Chris, two American guys who decided to get married in Tuscany last summer. What I really love about this wedding is the fact that they completely experienced the Italian life style! They stayed in a great villa with the whole family and invited a chef to teach them how to make hand-made pasta!
They travelled around the little villages of Lucca province and experienced the beauty and freshness of local open markets…

I leave you with the story of this great wedding told by their photographer Alexandra Roberts – I love her style and when she told me she is from Boston, where I studied for a while during uni, I liked her even more!

I met Chris and Janice as they were looking for a photographer to bring on this crazy trip. We instantly connected on many levels. Janice likes to tell the story about how she hugged me when we met up at a little coffee shop in Winter Hill and how I might have thought that was weird since we had only just met, but I wanted to hug her too! I got the phone call that they were picking me 3 days after we had met and I was just floored.
Not only was I excited to go to Italy for a week, but I knew that we were going to be friends for a really long time. Since we were going to be spending a week in a house together, we made a point to hang out a few times just to get to know each other better. (more…)

Marzia + Maurizio: roses & lights (Part II)

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

Hi dear friends,
Remember the article we published last Monday about Marzia and Maurizio’s wedding?! I’ve kept for today the second part of it, less fun and romantic than the previous post, but the one I was most inspired by in regards with great and nice ideas put together by our fantastic Italian brides!

Marzia’s idea about her day was simple: roses and lights! Roses and lights all around: candles in the church, candles in white glasses at the restaurant, flying lanterns in the night!

Marzia’s bouquet was fantastic: one single giant red rose which perfectly matched the romantic style of her dress!

Red roses petals were spread on the restaurant tables as well among the candles! And please notice: roses petals were actually lying on mirrors, to emphasize the light effect as well!

How nice are the flying lanterns pictures taken by Gianluca around midnight! We friends were afraid for the woods in the surroundings to go into fire, but the moment was really magic!
