COUNTRYSIDE WEDDING

Marzia + Maurizio: romance and fun! (Part I)

Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

Happy Monday everyone,

This week I feel like sharing with you a couple of articles about our friends Marzia and Maurizio’s wedding which was celebrated a few weeks ago in North East of Italy.

Everything started on the hottest Saturday afternoon of the year in the tiny medieval San Gregorio church, hidden among the hills, in the Pordenone countryside.
Marzia’s dress was so nice! A traditional and simple white dress which perfectly matched her black hair and her tanned skin! Here a few pics taken by my husband Gianluca…

The path to San Gregorio church is sooo nice and romantic, Marzia’s brother walked her to the church along a medieval alley surrounded by the castle ancient walls!
Once the religious ceremony was over, our friends wanted to play some jokes to the couple, which is something tipical in the Italian tradition.
The reception was held in an ancient villa close to the church, so Maurizio had simply to take Marzia in a little chariot up to the restaurant! OMG! But friends were there to help them!

A lot of emotions and drinking throughout the dinner as well! But keep tuned, as I’ll tell you more into details into the next article about nice ideas Marzia put together for her day!

Italian origins and a lot of love

A dream.
That’s what this wedding is!
I felt humbled when I saw Nick & Emily’s destination wedding in the tuscan countryside and I have to thank their photographer Jessica Lorren, who has been so kind to let me feature her pics in our blog!
I love the light, the gentle colours of each single pic and all those little details which make me think of my good old Italy! The wooden hanger, the settled table, the vineyard…everything drives me back to my childwood and make me feel peaceful…

Nick and Emily met in Chicago while attending medical school. They decided to get married in Italy after a trip there – they completely felt in love with the Tuscan landscape and they felt somehow part of it because of Nick’s grandfather Lino Italian origins.

They had their civil cerimony celebrated in Lucca town hall…

They got married at the villa Nick’s grandfather grew up in, and their reception was held at the little church Lino attended while growing up.
The villa is over 150 years old and was filled with memories of Nick’s rich Italian heritage. Emily carried her heritage with her as well, pinning her grandmothers’ brooches to her bouquet and wrapping it in her grandma’s hankie, wearing her aunt diamond earrings.

Our freelance photographer, a true success!

While looking for a photographer for our wedding, we experienced that not necessarily the most well-known ones are the best! Freelance photographers, having great passion for photography can come up with creative and valuable shots!

This was our guess and we took the challenge to try it on our wedding day!

We got married in Pordenone and  our idea of picture set was clear: we wanted to take advantage of the medieval architecture of the city and play with it! (more…)
