When time came for me to choose my wedding dress, I spent a rather significant number of hours reading wedding magazines, just to find out the idea I had in mind for my dress - a cheap solution with a high visual impact – was not existing!
I had been told from friends about this lady, a sewing professional, working at home with no atelier. Here is what she made for me…
I was not quite sure she would have been able to satisfy my request, because white wedding dresses are the most common choice in Italy, but I thought to give it a try!I spent a Saturday afternoon in an atelier to understand that the object of my wishes was not economically sustainable: 1800€ was far too much for my budget! However, that was the dress I really wanted and I thought I would have regretted to give up for an alternative solution.
I decided to jotted down on paper the dress design I had in mind and I brought it to her.
By entering her home and the small room dedicated to sewing, I felt immediately relieved: tens of her brides’ pictures were hanging on the wall. It took me a very short time to explain her what I wanted!
I showed her my drawing and we made next appointment at a fabric shop, where her advice were essential in the choice of the satin material, the colour, the top bodice made of pearls and Swarovski so to give my dress the right bright light and effect!!! I was not particularly excited by the back closed with a satin flower which was my dressmaker’s idea… but in the end she convinced me and I have to confess this detail had a great success! Everything was in there for a total cost which did not even exceeded one third of what I would have paid in an atelier…
