The catering service probably represents one of the major costs in a wedding budget. This is because you want to be sure your guests enjoy the food, definitely in Italy where buon cibo (good food) is a must!
On my wedding day I had more than thirty people coming from abroad and all of them had high expectations in term of food and wine quality! We didn’t want to disappoint them!
I immediately felt in love with the people who provided the catering service: they had a wide range of table decorations to choose from and they also suggested a variety of tasty local starters, called antipasti, made of products from North East of Italy.
My guests enjoyed Pitina – a smoked sausage made of sheep meat, goat meat or clawed game meat (chamois, stag, and roebuck) – San Daniele Ham and Sauris speck; they also tasted a wide range of cheeses among which smoked Ricotta, Malga, Salato di Carnia and Montasio (this one has got a “Denomination of Protected Origin” certification). Ham and cheese were cut in thin slices and served on small pieces of home-made bread cooked in a local backery.
We discovered a new world of flavours from the Italian tradition which everyone enjoyed. And you? Would you choose local food for your wedding? Buon Appetito!
