The Excelsior hotel was open in July 1908 in Venice Lido, an area which soon became an exclusive spot for who wanted to spend their holidays in an elegant and quiet beach in the middle of a natural park as well as not far from Venice.

The hotel grew its popularity over the years and now long is the list of celebrities who stayed at the Excelsior. Among them Barbara Hutton, Paola and Albert di Liège, Erroll Flynn, the duke of Windsor, Don Carlos di Beistegui e Winston Churchill. In addition to that, every year numerous actors and actresses stay at the Excelsior during the Venice Film Festival.
