Pink & red breakfast

Posted on July 3rd, 2011 by Stefania

What best than a surprise to start a Sunday morning?
I like to spoil MrB with special treats some now and then, so this morning I have prepared for him a warm cup of strong Italian coffee (he loves it!) served in my new set of pottery, then I made a delicious and light fruit cake (which is a quite typical Italian cake for weddings, expecially during summer). Last touch, I have added a small vase (a jam vase!) with some  pink and red dalia flowers and few other decorations I had in the house…

ITALIAN COFFEE. I bought a nice set of coffe cups by Pip Studio, a Dutch company which has created this new collection of colourful pottery…have a look at them they’ve got really cool stuff! I also used a pocker card with a little message for MrB (Buon giorno!)

WEDDING CAKE. Then I made a fruit cake which is a typical Italian cake – I leart how to do it when I was 8 years old and I’m still making it because I think it’s delicious and quick, so a good way to impress your guests!

Last but not least the TABLE CETREPIECE. I never thought of dalia flowers, but yesterday morning I went to the town market and they were on offer, plus I was impressed by their vibrant red colour, so I thought to give it a go and see if I could get a nice centerpiece for MrB breakfast table. The ones I bought had very long empty stalcks, so I thought to cut them and put them in a small vase. I wanted a very simple, not pretencious centerpiece and that why I decided to use a jam jar…The result is this small and cute centerpiece, which fits quite well with the rest of the decorations…

By the way, MrB enjoyed the cake very much…just half left!

    Hi Wendy,
I’m glad you like them, they are dalias…not a very popular flower, but I think they have character!
