I’ve got a nice story for you today.
It’s one of those stories which show how much romantic you can be no matter if it’s not your wedding day.
Gaelle surprised her husband organizing a day off the Prosecco hills…a b&b with a stunning view and an original osteria without waiter were the ingredients of her surprise!
My husband’s birthday felt a Tuesday this year, so right after work on Monday night, after picking up our daughter from the nursery we started to drive East…he didn’t have a clue where we were going, he was just following my driving directions!
After a bit more than an hour, we arrrived in the lovely village of Santo Stefano (commune of Valdobbiadene) in the gorgeous bed and breakfast Relais Dolce Vista, an ancient renovated farm overlooking the lovely Prosecco hills. We loved the style of the place : a mixt of both contempory and old, and the setting was just amazing and so romantic! Our room had a big bay window providing a gorgeous view on the valley and the vines, better than any poster or painting !
For dinner we went to a very good fish restaurant in Valdobbiadene called Da Ugo.
Then the day after we wandered around the pretty villages close-by and for lunch I took my little family to a very unsual Osteria : “l’Osteria senza oste” that could be translated as “The restaurant without any waiter”…
This lovely little place is situated in the middle of the vines and its door opens on a small old fashioned kitchen. The idea is great, anyone can pick up different local products (prosciutto, bread, cheese, prosecco, biscuits…) from the fridge and the shelves.
The concept is based on honesty, so people have to leave the due amount of money in a wooden box, following a price list hanging on the wall.
Once you’ve taken eveything you need for lunch you can walk out in the middle of the surrounding vines where some tables and chairs are scattered around. You are then free to enjoy your food and drinks in the most peaceful and beautiful setting, we loved it !!! We had an amazing day, very unsual!
