Winter is finally arrived here in Italy bringing a lot of snow…I have the fortune to look out the window and see all the mountains painted in white and it is so spectacular and inspiring! So today we will discover some of the most stunning venue for your Italian wedding in the Dolomites Mountain…if you are thinking of getting married by the sea, after seeing these amazing places you won’t be so sure about it!
The Dolomites are a mountain range in Northeast Italy developing in three different region, Trentino Alto-Adige, Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia. Their majesty, as you can see from the pictures, is unmistakeable and are absolutely a unique background for a romantic wedding in Italy.
A wedding in the mountain can take place in different kinds of surroundings. I selected for you three option to get inspired for your wedding in the Dolomites, enjoy!
A wedding by the lake
The Dolomites are a spectacular mountain range but it is not made only by high picks and rocks… There are also some amazing lakes between the mountains that create a magical atmosphere. It seems to be in a theatre where the mountains are the wings and the water is the stage!
I selected two amazing lakes, the first one is Lago di Braies. It is located in South Tyrol 1496 m MSL and is famous for its crystal clear water. I absolutely love this scene…I can imagine a magnificent couple shooting here by the shore or in a little boat in the middle of the lake!
The second choice is Lago di Toblino located in the valley near the city of Trento in Trentino Alto-Adige region. It is surrounded by a beautiful view both of the mountains and of the valley and has a little peninsula where there is a cozy restaurant, once a castle, where you can have your reception!
A wedding in a castle
For those who wants a fairytale Italian wedding, opting for a medieval castle is the perfect choice. In the Dolomites there are a lot of dreaming places for example the Prösels Castle, a medieval fortress with an amazing view of the valley and an interior with a gothic style. It is a really romantic place for your Italian wedding, here you can have both a religious and a civil ceremony. To get more inspiration check put the real wedding of Lenie and Francesco we featured last December who got married exactly in this castle!
A great alternative is the majestic Sigmunskron Castle, a big fortress dated back to AD 945! Today this stunning wedding venue is the house of the fourth mountain museum established by the famous mountaineer Reinhold Messner. It can be rent for private events such as weddings, concerts, confrences etc. I love the amazing view…
A wedding in the snow
There is no top wedding venues in the Dolomites without the snow option… This choice is for the mountain lovers, who usually prefer a cold winter to a hot summer! An Italian wedding in this scenery can be host in the typical Italian Rifugio, a mountain hut usually accessible by foot or chair lift.
A hidden treasure in the mountains near Cortina d’Ampezzo is the Rifugio Averau, a mountain hut near a ski slope with an amazing view you can enjoy from the panoramic terrace. There is also the possibility to stay overnight for small groups. Here you can have your Italian wedding reception in a magical surrounding and at the same time have some adventure!!
